Georgia Dept. of Revenue Adopts c1secure CISO Sentinel Security and Compliance Risk Management Platform

{Chicago, Illinois, November 13, 2018} Last week our valued customer, The Georgia Department of Revenue was awarded the 2018 ISE® North American – Academic/Public Sector Project of the Year for implementing c1secure’s CISO Sentinel Security and Compliance Risk Management platform. This is an honor delivered by the judgment of CISO’s from all over the country and held in high esteem amongst peers in the Security Industry.

The project outlined how c1secure flipped the paradigm of a traditional paper-based assessment and instead utilized the CISO Sentinel platform to implement a dynamic actionable Security and Compliance program that now allows for the Georgia Department of Revenue to stay in a state of Continuous Monitoring.

The organization had faced significant challenges identifying, obtaining, processing, and aggregating key information that would enable them to ultimately be in better control of their cybersecurity posture and effectively manage to defined objectives.

They had significant dependencies upon 3rd party service providers, challenges around management of long-term remediation projects, multiple regulatory and internal audits requiring considerable manual efforts and the need to mature the organization to an Adaptive Risk Management and cybersecurity posture.

With the implementation of CISO Sentinel, the organization was able to institute a continuous monitoring program, promoting ongoing evaluation and improvement of the Georgia Department of Revenue’s risk program.

They now have centralized policy lifecycle management with a single platform to document, store, assign reviewer/approval privileges, revision tracking, and real-time reporting of policy compliance.  Implementation of the control framework management provides the Georgia Department of Revenue with a centralized platform to define for regulatory bodies how they have designed, implemented, and test for compliance on an ongoing basis for each control.

The platform augments investments in their vulnerability management program. Scan data is automatically imported, distributed, and reported. Dashboards display prioritized remediations by asset business criticality and the severity of the vulnerability identified.

The Georgia Department of Revenue now has a centralized repository, weighting or business criticality of operating system servers, workstations, applications, databases, and other assets under management.

They have the ability to execute and effectively manage audits including control testing, record observations, associated remediations, progress towards mitigation, and the ability to prepare and store artifacts which ultimately enables real time audit readiness and progress reporting.

Finally, the platform promotes business continuity by cataloguing institutional knowledge associated with year over year compliance activities and remediation activities removing dependency upon single individuals or organizational functions.

This award serves as validation to the Georgia Department of Revenue that they are a thought leader in their approach to their security program and have taken initiative to position themselves as a proactive security organization maturing away from the reactive state many find themselves in.

Eliminating silos within the department and opting for a Continuous Monitoring platform that provides holistic oversight, management, and visibility into the ongoing security and compliance efforts of the enterprise by providing a single source of truth is recognized as the next wave of security operations management. By doing this, organizations are enabled to take control of their security and compliance programs by prioritizing the review of critical security alerts, automating business processes, eliminating redundant efforts, and streamlining compliance and management reporting.
